WELCOME TO VITAL FLIGHT

Left to Right: David Knies, Command Pilot & Chairman, VA Veteran,

We welcome and thank you for visiting Vital Flight, Inc. a non-profit ALL Voluntary Pilot Organization. Vital Flight is dedicated to the mission of Helping People.  For over 25 years, pilots have been providing Free Air Transportation with many organizations, to those that qualify and meet specific requirements, throughout the United States. All of these pilot organizations, including Vital Flight, belong to a national organization, Air Care Alliance. ACA Members share and collaborate in order to improve their missions of service to the public and to enhance access to aviation transportation for those with special needs.

Why Vital Flight? The founders recognized an immediate need to serve humanitarian and compassionate needs, as well as medical needs in the community.  Air Transportation to special needs camps, military veterans that need assistance and emergency responder needs for disasters, whether a fire, flood or storm are all examples of how Vital Flight helps people.

Whether you are a pilot, prospective recipient of our services or a volunteer, Vital Flight brings it all together and coordinates the Air Transportation delivered by Command Pilots that have dedicated themselves to this type of bountiful service.  FAA qualified and licensed, these pilots provide their time, aircraft and all expenses at no charge to those seeking assistance. Vital Flight recognizes this tremendous generosity and has designed programs especially to reward and thank those pilots.

You can be assured that 100% of any gift provided to Vital Flight will assist with missions, special community outreach and pilot programs. There is no paid staff, just dedicated volunteers, both on the ground and in the air serving those in need. We hope you will become a member of Vital Flight and thank you in advance for your interest and support.  We look forward to hearing from you in the future.

If you are in need of Free Air Transportation:

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
(Click questions to show or hide answers)

Who does Vital Flight help?

Generally the individuals that receive help from Vital Flight have limited financial resources and have a Compassionate, Humanitarian or Medical need for air transportation.

What geographic area does Vital Flight fly?

We coordinate FREE Air Transportation throughout the State of Florida, including the Bahamas, but we also have the ability to link with Air Care Alliance organizations covering the entire United States.

What type of airplanes do we fly?

Our Pilots own a wide range of General Aviation aircraft. Most of the planes are unpressurized and have 4 to 6 seats.

Are we an Air Ambulance Service?

NO, we are NOT an Air Ambulance Service. All of the patrons that fly with us need to be medically stable, ambulatory, able to sit upright in a General Aviation aircraft seat and be able to get in and out of the aircraft with limited assistance.

What airports do we fly out of?

Our smaller General Aviation airplanes give us the versatility to fly in and out of almost all airports.

How much does Vital Flight Air Transportation cost?

There is NO COST to the individuals that utilize the Air Transportation services we coordinate. Our Pilots volunteer their time and donate all of their aircraft expenses, including fuel and landing fees.

Do we accept donations?

Yes..... Our Pilots donate their time, airplanes and cover all expenses without compensation. The organization connects people to pilots and oversees the missions. Contributions help to offset the cost of general supplies for outreach throughout the State of Florida.
